Congratulations to Marton Primary Academy and Nursery who have achieved the School Games GOLD Level Mark Award for this academic year.

The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and Marton has been recognised for its success.

Marton’s sporting achievements during 2023/24 include:

  • Children attending a variety of sporting events ranging from Ballroom dancing, skateboarding, a high ropes course and curling.
  • The Year 5 and 6 football team had a great season which included winning most of their games, getting them through to a tournament where they achieved third place.
  • The Year 5 and 6 netball team had a strong year and were unbeaten, they won their last match 14 – 1.
  • All children enjoyed taking part in Youth Games week, completing a variety of events including football, swimming, rugby and golf.
  • The school also ran family sporting events from a Santa Dash to an Autism 5k walk, and they finished the year off with a Family Colour Run event.

The school community is extremely proud of pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport and are thankful to the young volunteers, leaders and officials who made the competitions possible.

As part of the school’s application, they were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and they are pleased that the hard work of everyone at school has been rewarded this year.
